I haven't got the slightest idea what the phrase "it's all over but the shouting" means. I've even used it in conversation. I've quipped, "Well, I guess it's all over but the shouting!", to general nods and murmurs of agreement, even though I don't know what it means. Why do I do that? What does it mean? What's all over? Why is there shouting left over when it's finished? Why is there any shouting? Who is shouting? Who?
