I'll Take You There

Well, I'm taking a break from research on my latest book project, Clams On the Half-shell and Rollerskates, Rollerskates: Cultural Anxiety and the Lyrics of Disco. Frankly, the deeper I dig the more dismayed I become. I knew I'd stumbled onto one of the few clumpy deposits of cultural detritus that had yet to be thoroughly sifted through the postmodern analytical sieve, but sadly I'm not finding enough slyly transgressive material to warrant a book-length manuscript. I think it might be more productive to cut my losses at this point, and turn my attention back to my exhaustive study of linen closets in 1950's America, Blanket Condemnation: Limning the Linen Closet as Locus of Social Conformity in Postwar Suburbia.
